December came in dry and warm, then turned cold and wet. Still, all our first-weekend-in-December holiday traditions are unfolding, like Dickens on the Strand and the Messiah Sing-a-Long at First Pres. Tonight, I’m re-watching Eric Idle’s “Not the Messiah” and one of our family’s absolute FAVORITE songs from that hilarious oratio is “Sheep, Sheep, Sheep.” While singing along and laughing out loud with the Monty Python crew, I’m cutting up potatoes, carrots, bell peppers, onion and cabbage for a vegetarian stew. Hah! “Stew, stew, stew” could be another Eric Idle song, like the Cod fish song from his “Quite Remarkable Adventures of the Owl and the Pussycat.” Crisp green salad, chewy sourdough bread and a bowl of hot and hearty stew; with comfort food like this, I can handle anything December brings. Well, except holiday shopping at the Galleria.
