Vince Sandwich

Peanut Butter and Syrup SandwichMy mom made us peanut-butter-and-syrup sandwiches as a special treat when I was young. Vince Young’s comment about syrup sandwiches in this amazing article of how he pushed past terrible odds as a teenager made me remember syrup sandwiches created in a less stressful environment. I suspect his did not include peanut butter. Here’s a sandwich recipe named for a local hero – not because Vince was a football hero, but because he became a hero for his sisters, mother, and grandmother.

  • 2 Tablespoons peanut butter, any kind
  • 1 Tablespoon pancake syrup, any kind
  • 2 pieces any of bread or 4 flour tortillas

Put the peanut butter and syrup in a small bowl or plate and stir 50 strokes. Drag your fork, spoon, or spreading knife around or through the two ingredients on each stroke.

Spread the mix on one piece of bread and top with the second piece. If you use tortillas, this is enough filling for two sandwiches.

Eat.

Yum!
