Spinach

  • 1 cellophane bag washed spinach
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • dash of pepper

Check the instructions on the bag.  Some cellophane packages can be microwaved.  If your brand doesn’t indicate you can cook in the bag, open the package and transfer contents to a large micro-wave safe bowl.  Cover with plastic wrap and cook on high temperature for 3 minutes.  Carefully remove bowl and place on heat-protected surface (put down a hot pad or a double-folded kitchen towl).  Peel back the plastic wrap starting on the far side of the bowl, then sprinkle the salt and pepper over the cooked spinach and stir to mix.

Protect your face from steam burns! Never open a steaming container on the side that is closest to your face.  Hot steam burns badly.  Open hot containers by beginning on the side most distant from your body.  Crack the lid or peel a little of the plastic wrap, then continue opening the pot or package so that the direction of the escaping steam is always pointed away from you, not at you.
