Not really.  Mardi Gras translates as Fat Tuesday, but in our house, Mardi Gras means “Carlyn is making King Cakes.”  Each year, our Wiess O-week group is treated to a homemade, filled King Cake.  Whomever gets the baby should have good luck for a year.  This year, Fernando was the winner!  The person who gets the baby is also supposed to bring the next King Cake to the group, but we’re letting  him off the hook on that part.  If you have not experience making a yeast bread, this recipe can be frustrating.  And if you don’t want to spend 6 hours in the kitchen on a single pastry, no worries.  Just get a filled King Cake from Three Brothers Bakery.
