Tea and Butterflies

The Rice Women’s Club held one of their monthly meetings at my house this spring and I served a light tea before the speaker began talking about butterflies in Houston.

The most requested recipes were for the Butter Scones (plain, eat with whipped cream and jam!) and the Lemon Ginger “Tea Veggies.” In addition to these treats, we had Cranberry Orange Scones, Goode Company BBQ’s smoked turkey breast, whipped cream (see how to whip it described in the recipe for Strawberry Icebox Pie), cantaloupe and raspberries, and traditional Scottish shortbread and European coffee biscuits (Biscoff’s Lotus cookies). The tea flavors were Masala Chai, Dragon Jasmine (both from the Path of Tea) and herbal Peppermint. We also enjoyed Hazelnut and plain coffee.

The butterfly speaker was Nancy Greig from the Houston Museum of Natural Science and we were captivated by her slides and information.
