Shopping

Just as the right recipe can build your confidence in the kitchen, the right tools will make the preparation of your meals go swiftly. But you also need to have a good shopping list before you buy food for a week.  Look in the left navigation menu and select weekly shopping lists, then choose the list that matches the week for your menu and recipes.

First week shopping list – also known as “stocking the naked pantry”

Stuff in my basket that wasn’t on my list in Week One

Sometimes even an experienced shopper gives into impulses.

  • Mustard and Collard greens
  • Spinach
  • Rooster Sauce (yuck! should have bought peppers-in-vinegar sauce instead)
  • Throw-away plates, cups, utensils
  • Paper napkins
  • Nilla Vanilla wafers, flour, sugar, vanilla (banana pudding!)
  • pineapple chunks
  • strawberries
  • extra bag of potatoes

I can do it myself!

Want to make up your own menus for the week? Adjust your weekly shopping list accordingly. Don’t know how to do this? Simple: count the number of eggs you need for each of the recipes in your week’s menus and update the shopping list; count the cups of flour, sugar, or butter you need for the week’s recipes, count the number of potatoes, bunches of cilantro, pieces of break, etc. and keep updating your shopping list until you’ve included all the ingredients for all the recipes for the week. A customize-your-own shopping list is included below.
