How to Fry an Egg
- 1 teaspoon peanut oil or butter
- 1 egg
- 1 small or medium non-stick skillet with a lid
Melt the oil or butter in the non-stick skillet over medium heat. When the oil is melted, turn the heat to high and gently crack one egg into the hot oil. Fry for 3 minutes. Gently turn the egg over, cover the skillet, and fry for 2-3 minutes more. The white of the egg should be crispy and the yolk mostly but not fully cooked. For a “hard fried egg” with no runny yolk, increase the frying time to 4 minutes on each side but reduce the heat to almost high (7 or 8 on a scale of 0-10).
