This recipe from a dear friend brings to mind a smile each time I stumble across it. Martha P. Holmes was a talented designer and my home still sports most of the colors and themes she helped me choose, so her influence definitely extends beyond my kitchen.
- 1 pound hamburger or ground turkey
- 1 large can ranch beans (like big juice cans – maybe 32 ounces)
- 1 package frozen chopped onions
- 1 16 oz. can diced tomatoes
- 1 Tbsp chili powder
- Brown onions and meat.
- Drain grease.
- Add beans and tomatoes and chili powder.
- Heat through and serve immediately or simmer for a couple of hours over a low heat. The longer you cook it the better it gets.
Serves 6-8
