Martha’s Simple Chili

This recipe from a dear friend brings to mind a smile each time I stumble across it. Martha P. Holmes was a talented designer and my home still sports most of the colors and themes she helped me choose, so her influence definitely extends beyond my kitchen.

  • 1 pound hamburger or ground turkey
  • 1 large can ranch beans (like big juice cans – maybe 32 ounces)
  • 1 package frozen chopped onions
  • 1 16 oz. can diced tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  1. Brown onions and meat.
  2. Drain grease.
  3. Add beans and tomatoes and chili powder.
  4. Heat through and serve immediately or simmer for a couple of hours over a low heat.  The longer you cook it the better it gets.

Serves 6-8
